Understanding Leadership Data and Handoffs

Principal decisions affect connected school records. Knowing which role owns each record prevents decisions from being interpreted as completed operational work.

Key records for leadership review

Active academic year and term

The school calendar context for current class, attendance, enrollment, and grade activity. A different active term can change what the application shows and what staff can work on.

Enrollment and subject allocation

Enrollment places a student in a section for a term. A subject allocation connects a teacher, subject, section, and term. Both must be correct before classroom results can be interpreted reliably.

Admissions application

An intake and review record, not a confirmed placement. A leadership decision must still be followed by authorised Staff/Admin work to create or confirm a student placement.

Published school record

A report, grade, attendance record, or official document should be used only after its source data and status have been checked. A dashboard number alone is not enough.

Decision handoffs

  • Give School Admins requests involving accounts, roles, terms, enrollment, class setup, schedules, or data correction.
  • Give Staff operational follow-up involving family service, admissions coordination, document processing, and approved communications.
  • Give teachers classroom follow-up involving attendance evidence, assessment evidence, and learning support.
  • Use the school’s safeguarding process for health, identity, disciplinary, or family risk concerns.

What happens next

A clear handoff identifies the record, verified facts, decision, owner, deadline, and any required privacy restriction. It avoids repeating sensitive information in multiple systems.
