Academic Leadership and Planning

Academic Leadership and Planning

Academic views help Principals interpret school performance, exam planning, terms, and curriculum context. Use the data to ask good questions and coordinate a safe change with the role that owns the underlying setup.

Available now. Last reviewed: 19 August 2026.

Review performance responsibly

  • Confirm the academic year, term, grade level, and data status before comparing results.
  • Treat missing, empty, or unusually high/low performance figures as a prompt to inspect assessment configuration and source records.
  • Discuss support needs with the relevant teachers and School Admin; do not identify students or teachers more broadly than necessary.

Plan a high-impact academic change

Before a term, examination, or curriculum change

  1. State the educational purpose, target period, affected groups, and decision owner.
  2. Ask School Admin to check academic dates, sections, subject allocations, timetable, rooms, and downstream attendance or grading effects.
  3. Check for lesson, room, holiday, or assessment conflicts before communicating a date.
  4. Use the school’s approved governance process to authorise the change.
  5. Verify the published schedule or active academic context after the responsible role completes the change.

What happens next

Leadership establishes the decision and educational rationale. School Admin, Staff, and teachers complete and verify the operational changes in their own workspaces.

For cross-module academic-period, schedule, or grading problems, see Principal troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting

Performance data is blank or contradictory

Check the selected period and source records before drawing a conclusion or escalating performance concerns.

An exam conflicts with teaching, room use, or a holiday

Pause the plan and coordinate a corrected schedule with School Admin before notifying students or families.

An active-term change is requested

Treat it as high risk. Confirm the target date, current school activity, and downstream impact before the approved owner acts.

Grades need correction or publication

Ask the authorised Staff/Admin role to follow the approved grading workflow; do not treat leadership review as a substitute for verified grade status.
